Shady Cats – Dodge Your Shadows, and Survive!
Shady Cats is an engaging 2D platformer where you guide cats across platforms while dodging dangerous shadows. The unique twist? Every move you make can become a future threat. Shadows will precisely replicate your previous path, turning every playthrough into a fresh, unpredictable challenge. Stay sharp, choose your power-ups wisely, and find a way to survive against shadows that grow increasingly difficult to handle!
Gameplay
In Shady Cats, every step you take is recorded and mirrored by a shadow that appears shortly after. These shadows follow the exact route you previously traveled. Colliding with one ends your run. This means you must not only watch for obstacles ahead but also keep track of your own past movements. Calculate every jump, avoid backtracking into hazardous areas, and always plan your next move. The longer you survive, the more shadows may appear, making it increasingly challenging to find a safe path.
Collecting Fish and Using Fireflies
Collecting fish is a key way to boost your score in Shady Cats. Notably, for every 15 fish collected, you may encounter a Golden Fish. While this item increases your score multiplier, it can also trigger the arrival of angry bees or bully cats, making your journey even more perilous.
Fireflies are another useful item. Collecting these items can remove an active shadow, relieving pressure and creating more space for you to move safely. Consider carefully when to pick up an item; a path rich in fish might not always be the best choice if it leads to you being surrounded by too many shadows.
Power-ups
Between levels in Shady Cats, you can choose one of three random ability cards. Each card offers a unique advantage, helping you adapt to challenging situations:
- Shield: Protects you from a single collision.
- Vanish: Removes active shadows.
- Slowdown: Reduces the movement speed of the shadows, giving you more time to react.
- Magnet: Draws fish toward you, making them easier to collect.
Choose your card based on the current situation. If you are being surrounded by shadows, Vanish is a great choice. Alternatively, a Shield is useful when you need an extra chance to navigate through a dangerous area.
Crazy Mode
If you’re looking for a greater challenge, try Shady Cats’ "Crazy Mode." In this mode, shadows from previous levels continue to pursue you into the next one. This makes every level significantly more intense, as you must contend with lingering shadows while remaining cautious of new threats.

- Player 1: Left/Right arrow keys to move, Up arrow key to jump.
- Player 2: A or Q to move left, D to move right, W or Z to jump.
- Player 3: J to move left, L to move right, I to jump.
