Farflung invites players to explore the world through a geography-based trivia game that challenges your ability to identify countries and decipher geographical clues. Covering everything from borders and capitals to languages and historical events, each question puts your geographical knowledge to the test. The game encourages you to think beyond the most obvious answers. With daily challenges, an unlimited play mode, and various ways to engage, every journey offers an opportunity to sharpen your geographical expertise.
Gameplay
Each expedition in Farflung consists of five questions. Your task is to read the clues, locate the corresponding country on the world map, and place a pin to submit your answer. Questions span a wide range of geographical topics, including nations, capitals, borders, continents, languages, and history. Since some clues may have multiple correct answers, you should carefully weigh your options before finalizing your choice.
Earn More Kilometers
Getting the answer right is only half the challenge. Farflung employs a scoring system based on the rarity of your choice; you earn more kilometers for correct answers that are less commonly selected. While standard answers yield fewer points, choosing a rarer, yet still correct, option can help you get closer to a maximum score of 500 km. After each round, review the list of valid answers to discover alternative countries and refine your strategy for future expeditions.
Daily Challenges and Unlimited Mode
The Daily Challenge in Farflung features five questions that are the same for all players. A new expedition becomes available every day at 00:00 UTC. You can test your skills against the same set of questions as other players. Want to keep playing? The "Unlimited" mode lets you start new expeditions at any time, providing extra opportunities to practice and sharpen your skills.
Classic Mode and Wander Mode
- Classic Mode: Answer questions within a 60-second time limit. You’ll need to make quick decisions as you locate the correct country on the map.
- Wander Mode: Play without any time constraints, allowing you to explore potential answers at your own pace.
Choose Classic if you enjoy a fast-paced challenge, or Wander for a more relaxed geographical experience.
Rules and Scoring
Each expedition consists of five questions, with only one attempt allowed per question. Correct answers earn you kilometers based on the rarity of the country:
- Common: 40 km
- Uncommon: 55 km
- Rare: 70 km
- Very Rare: 85 km
- Rarest: 100 km
Incorrect answers, skipped questions, or running out of time result in 0 km.
Your goal is to accumulate as many kilometers as possible. If you answer all five questions correctly with countries from the Rarest category, you will achieve a perfect score of 500 km.
