Instead of running through crowded streets, you'll dash through coral-filled tracks, dodge jellyfish, and overcome unexpected obstacles. Besides the novel ocean setting, this version also features surfers, hoverboards, outfits, and ocean-themed challenges. Ready for an ocean sprint?
Gameplay
Subway Surfers Underwater retains the familiar endless runner mechanics. The character continuously runs forward, and your task is to control them to overcome obstacles. The goal remains simple: run as far as possible, avoid collisions, collect items, and try to break your own record. However, as speed increases, each lane change or jump requires greater precision.
New Surfers
Subway Surfers Underwater not only changes the setting but also adds more collectible content for players who love special characters and items. Two new surfers, Finn and Electra, are designed with an underwater theme. Their appearance provides more options for players who want to refresh their look during runs. In addition, Koral receives a sub explorer outfit, Cathy has a seaside outfit, and many other ocean-themed items.
Three Ocean-themed Hoverboards
Players can explore three new hoverboards in Subway Surfers Underwater:
- Yellow Sub – enhances speed and jumping ability.
- Jelly Board – focuses on acceleration.
- Koinobori – offers a smoother drifting feel.

Season Hunt and Event System
Another notable feature in Subway Surfers Underwater is the Season Hunt system using Starfish Tokens. These items appear during the run and create additional goals for players to pursue besides achieving a high score. This version also incorporates many time-limited challenges such as: marathon challenge, tag time attack, spooky sprint, mystery hurdles, season challenge, earth run, and no floor challenge. Events give each playthrough more goals and motivate players to return after completing the basic tasks.
